What's the difference between a USB 2 hub and a USB 3 hub?
, Forty years of embedded software. Effectively, USB 3.0 is a brand new interface, running at ten times the data rate of USB 2.0. The USB 3 cable contains four extra wires, so that the new interface runs alongside the old one. A USB3 hub is therefore three hubs: a USB 1 hub, a USB 2 hub and a USB 3 hub all packaged in the same chip.
